Check out this page for a taste of what’s in store, including an interview with Executive Producer Julie Gardner, a Torchwood location guide, and a dynamite FX feature!
We bring you all the latest Torchwood news, including the tantalising name of series three’s five-part story! Torchwood magazine will be tracking the production every step of the way.
We put Torchwood on the map – literally – in the latest issue of Torchwood magazine. We’ve selected some choice Torchwood locations from series one and two and pinpointed them for your viewing pleasure, and even suggested possible walking routes for a sunny day out or two on a Torchwood tour!
Along with Russell T Davies, Torchwood Executive Producer and BBC Wales Head of Drama Julie Gardner makes the big decisions on the show. She looks back over two years at the top in this issue of Torchwood magazine, starting at the very beginning: ‘I wanted it to be like the great American series I love, like Smallville and Buffy’, Gardner says. ‘I wanted to see if it was possible to make that type of investigative action series in Cardiff. I think it's a great city, and I wanted to put contemporary Cardiff locations on screen.’
An exciting new three-part story by Torchwood novelist Trevor Baxendale (Something in the Water) begins in the latest issue of Torchwood magazine, featuring brand new original illustrations by Michael Dowling. Plus, Paul Grist is back in typically sumptuous style in this issue, writing and illustrating the latest instalment of the Rift War saga: Dark Times.
Special effects take three forms on Torchwood: CGI effects created by The Mill; latex prosthetics made by Millennium FX; and ‘physical’ effects such as explosions, gunshot impacts and weather, designed and executed by specialist FX company Any Effects. Danny Hargreaves from Any Effects is Special Effects Supervisor on Torchwood and Doctor Who, responsible for making things go with a bang, and ensuring that every effect is as safe as it is spectacular. Find out all about Danny’s explosive impact on Torchwood in the latest issue of Torchwood magazine.
