Your monthly Torchwood fix

There’s still some time until Torchwood: Children of Earth comes to your television screens, but Torchwood magazine is here every month to make the wait that little bit easier. In the latest feature-packed issue, we bring you the full story of the first ever Torchwood radio play, an interview with concept artist Ian Bunting, new Torchwood fiction, and much more.

The Hub

All the latest from the world of Torchwood, including news that the new series began filming in Cardiff last month. Torchwood: Children of Earth will also take the team into England for the first time plus a few days have been set aside to film in London later in the year. Also, news of the long-awaited release of the Torchwood soundtrack album, and John Barrowman’s appearance on tvguide.com’s list of sci-fi’s sexiest stars!

Atomic Radio!

The first ever radio adventure for the Torchwood team, Lost Souls, was broadcast on BBC Radio 4 on 10 September as part of the station’s Big Bang Day celebrations. The full cast recording stars John Barrowman, Eve Myles and Gareth David-Lloyd as Captain Jack, Gwen and Ianto, and reunites them with Freema Agyeman as old friend Martha Jones. In this issue, Torchwood magazine gets the full story on the making of the play from producer and director Kate McAll, with a little help from leading man John Barrowman.

Concept Art

Concept artists are a vital part of the design of Torchwood, giving first visual form to the writers’ most outlandish imaginings. In this issue, Torchwood magazine talks to one such artist, Ian Bunting, who reveals all about the process of creating his sumptuous designs. Also in this issue, the last in our current series of concept art pull-out posters and the chance to win a fantastic limited edition concept art print, courtesy of Department Six.

MAKEUP: THE BREAKDOWN

Ever wondered just how the Torchwood team manage to look so immaculate while fighting off Weevils? Or so artfully grubby and bruised in the wake of a massive explosion? Whether they’re looking their best or their worst, or somewhere in between, it’s thanks to makeup designer Marie Doris. In this issue, we talk to the woman who has braved the unforgiving conditions of High Definition filming and crafted the characters’ different looks over two series of Torchwood.
